University of Delaware women’s assistant coach, Mike Shenigo, joins Kirkwood coaching staff

University of Delaware women’s assistant coach, Mike Shenigo, who spent the last four seasons as head coach at Guilford College after successful stints as an assistant at NCAA Division III powers Scranton and Lynchburg, will join the Kirkwood coaching staff.

Shenigo is a nine-year college coaching veteran and has been to 5 NCAA tournaments and won 4 conference championships, in a coaching career capped by a Sweet 16 run and an NCAA Final Four appearance with Lynchburg in 2009.. He coached 3 All-Americans and 34 all-conference players during that period. Mike holds an advanced National Diploma from the NSCAA.

Kirkwood Girls Director of coaching Jon Scheer commented’ “Getting access to the best coaches is a critical part of any player’s soccer education. Having another D1 college coach, coaching in the youth ranks, provides an added bonus for both the players and the college coaches with respect to evaluation and feedback that can only be a positive for Kirkwood and local clubs.”
